Vex and FLL

FVC Information

In 2005 Oconomowoc CooneyTech Robotics started three FIRST Vex Robotics System teams under our supervision. As of November 2006, CooneyTech Robotics is mentoring six teams. All of the teams in the Oconomowoc FIRST VEX Robotics System Robotarea currently participate in the WIRED Vex Challenge (Click Here). Our current team leader for the teams at the Oconomowoc High School is AJ Johnson.

"The FIRST Vex Robotics System, lets young teenagers invent there very own robot that they can compete with. They all start out with the same amount number parts and they all have the same amount time to build their own robot. Each year the competition changes so they have to build a new robot that can handle the game. The teenagers can work with their hands to build something out of nothing...Plus they can have fun at the same time" - AJ Johnson

FLL Information

FLL LogoIn 2005 Oconomowoc founded its first FLL team. We currently have only one team under the supervision of the CooneyTech Robotics team. The local team we mentor only participates in a local competition in Mukwonago. Our current team leader for FLL is Molly Stieber. The St. Jerome's FLL team meets now once a month until April, at the Parish School, to keep kids interested until the next season. Previously, the FLL team met every Monday from 3:00 to 4:30. The CooneyTech FLL team registered too late this year so they did not compete in the competition in Mukwonago on November 12th, 2006. Many of the team members participated as volunteers for the event. The FLL team started by CooneyTech Robotics was a way to give the kids an experience in building and programming two robots to prepare for next year. About five kids meet, sometimes with their friends. Other than learning the best way to make a robot, they are learning to share the two RCX's they have and helping each other over time and obstacles they may encounter.
